Crackle medium offers naturally beautiful nuances and an antique quality to Cassy's modern technique. Hints of gold and copper paint in Cassy's work were inspired by gold leafing and warm Tuscan sun cascading across the landscape.
Cassy manipulates iridescent paint to elicit a constant play of light and elegant washes of color across the landscape.
The term “relief” originates from the Latin verb levo, which means “to raise.” An art form that has been practiced for millennia, Cassy incorporates relief into her paintings by expertly combining her knowledge of painting and sculpting to create striking masterpieces.
Inspired by the warm light, rich architecture and colorful landscapes she observed during her studies in Italy while earning her degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Cassy's use of metallic and iridescent paint hearkens back to the classical practice of gold leafing and bronze relief.
